Meteorology: The Art And Science Of Weather Forecasting
Everyone talks about “on time but nobody does anything,” is a famous proverb which appears very much. That made me think that I really do not know much about the science of weather forecasting. I see the weather man / woman on TV every night as he / she says the area what to expect for the next day and week. It seems quite relaxed. It looks like an easy job. You are standing before a blue screen and point in different directions and television it seems that you are pointing at the weather map. Boy was I surprised!
Meteorology is the interdisciplinary study and scientific atmosphere, weather and climatology. Phew! That mouth full. The meteorologist on television is not the only use of a diploma of meteorology. Meteorologists also work for government, research firms, industry and education. In 1800, people who worked with the weather had realized that the weather systems in a large part of the world could cause showers and clouds in another. Some meteorologists most interesting are those who work in research of weather and meteorological phenomena. Currently scientists are working on global warming and they work on computers super cross referencing changes in water vapor, climate, temperature and interactions between plants, animals and weather. Meteorologists are working on air quality and how to control it so that we can have good air quality conditions at any time. In this case, they work with industries such as automobile emissions, coal mining and other industries that emit fumes. Meteorologists have developed a new radar system that tracks tornadoes.
Radar, fighter aircraft hurricanes, satellites, computers are a few tools of the trade of the meteorologist. The largest employer of meteorologists is NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. This includes the National Weather Service is issuing this warning to wicked draw your attention to the radio or television when the weather turns too nasty.
If you or your child want to become a meteorologist you have to take many math, science and computer classes as you prepare to go to university to graduate. There are over 100 colleges in Canada and the United States that offer degrees in meteorology. Scholarships are available for this award.
